Client: MT South

Situation
MT South is a medical transcription company, based in Knoxville. The company listens to dictated recordings made by physicians and other health professionals and transcribes them into medical reports, correspondence and other administrative material. The company was seeking office space to accommodate their size and infrastructure. With MT South being a small business, it was necessary to find the perfect solution to their leasing requirements and professional support needs, which included a one or two person office arrangement, as well as assistance with IT administration. The IT services, provided by StaffTechs, would include implementing a server infrastructure that would allow MT South clients to upload recorded voice files for transcription and then retrieve completed transcription saved as document files on the system by independent medical transcriptionists working from remote locations via the Internet. All of their needs - office space coordination and IT support - had to be implemented and delivered within a short timeframe.

Solution
MyNextSuite provides MT South a turn-key office environment though the single office solutions arrangement. Single offices are ideally suited for start-ups and any other business that wants to avoid the high cost of owning their own facility and is in need of a minimal amount of space. Ultimately, the owner of MT South leased two conjoining single offices as well as requested IT assistance in establishing and hosting a Linux server, which is instrumental to their business operations.

MT South utilizes StaffTechs’ IT services at an additional cost to make their business solutions for IT services easy, quick and accessible. Based on the requirements for supporting the workflow, along with the need to implement a secure solution within the timeframe to get MT South operational, StaffTechs recommended an open source solution using existing and mature technology. The solution uses a Linux file server configured for secure file transfer (SFTP) via secure shell (SSH) connections. Linux was selected to minimize costs by eliminating license fees from the potential expenses of the system, as well as providing a secure file transfer platform.

One physical server was setup with software so that multiple operating systems known as virtual machines were capable of running and sharing the same physical resources. This configuration provides MT South with cost savings in hardware and software, ease in maintenance, deployment and backups, disaster recovery and numerous other advantages. Additionally, StaffTechs’ IT professionals implemented a file transfer protocol (FTP) server within the timeframe of MT South becoming a tenant.
